
This award is designed to honor the contributions of early career researchers (i.e., active in the
field for less than 10 years after receiving their advanced graduate degree). The recipient of this
award will have:
1. a clearly defined research agenda focused on the inclusion of people with significant
support needs in the community (e.g., education, employment, community
participation, family systems, and/or higher education)
2. a research agenda, teaching, and/or service has the potential to impact practice, policy,
and future research about the inclusion of people with significant support needs
3. a strong publication record (i.e., accepted, in press, online first, or assigned an issue) in
the last 3 years. **The last 3 years include the year of the conference. For example, the
2025 conference would evaluate the number of publications from 2023-2025
4. a strong record of incorporating content that aligns with the TASH mission into their
research and translating research into practice
5. a strong record of providing virtual or in-person professional development (e.g., teacher
in-service, webinars, technical assistance, conference presentations) that supports the
advancement of the TASH mission
6. presented (poster or break-out session) at a TASH conference within the last 5 years
7. served on at least one TASH committee (e.g., research and publications) or community
of practice (e.g., inclusive education) within the last 5 years
